RobCo WAMAP Autodoc Suit (Fallout: New Vegas Mod)

Fully voiced autodoc armor mod for Fallout: New Vegas. Made using the Garden of Eden Creation Kit (GECK) in about two days, while I was obsessively playing Fallout: New Vegas.

There’s a piece of armor in Fallout: New Vegas, the Stealth Suit MK II, which talks to you, and gives you contextual feedback. It tells you when combat has started, it tells you when you’re injured, it tells you when you’re out of healing items. Most critically, it tells you the same way just about every time, because they only recorded three takes of the “you’re out of stimpaks” voice line. One of those three lines is a comment that, since you’re out of stimpaks, maybe you should have gotten the Autodoc Suit instead of the Stealth Suit.

Intense Googling revealed that there is in fact no such piece of armor in Fallout, and so I endeavored to build one. This was my first time working in the Fallout: New Vegas development environment and hooooo boy has it aged gracelessly. By default, it doesn’t show you error messages in your code. It means you’re just completely stabbing in the dark, as made even darker by the fact that the editor doesn’t support syntax highlighting.

Luckily, heroes have created script extensions for the editor that add such niceties as error messages and not crashing constantly. This mod is the result of that non constant crashing and a few days of work learning to write code in GECK. Voice acting is done by me and mixed/effect’ed in FL Studio.
